Steam Condensing Heat Exchanger

SR Series

Indoor condensate tanks

A condensate tank vented to atmosphere generates flash steam. Pressure cannot be applied to the tank, so conventional heat exchangers cannot be used.

SR steam condensing heat exchanger has a small footprint, while being able to handle the flash steam generated by the condensate tank. SR recovers heat and eliminates steam clouds, while improving the work environment.

Deaerator

In some cases, water tube boilers that generate high-pressure steam are equipped with a steam-blow-in type deaerator. By blowing in live steam, dissolved gases in the boiler feed water are extracted and exhausted together with the steam to the atmosphere. However, this exhaust becomes unpleasant white smoke and causes heat loss due to live steam use.

Even if an ordinary heat exchanger is connected for heat recovery and white smoke elimination, back pressure is applied to the deaerator, which interferes with the dearation process.

However, the SR steam condensing heat exchanger does not create resistance to exhaust air, so white smoke from the deaerator can be eliminated and the heat from the exhaust steam can be used to heat the boiler feed water.

Exhaust from mechanical pumps

Drain headers of mechanical pumps such as PowerTraps are equipped with a vent port to release to the atmosphere, and flash steam is discharged to the atmosphere through the vent pipe. If the pressure of the recovered condensate is high, the amount of flash steam is also high, and white smoke from the vent pipe is noticeable. An ordinary heat exchanger cannot be connected to handle this flash steam. This is because the resistance of the heat exchanger causes pressure to build up in the drain header.

Since the SR steam condensing heat exchanger does not create resistance to the exhaust, it eliminates the white smoke from the drain header and at the same time, the heat from the exhaust steam can be used to raise the boiler feed water temperature.
