SteamAqua® helps building management company tackle inspection challenges
Steam Bulletin is TLV's free bimonthly email magazine on steam systems, energy efficiency, product selection, and more.
A building management company in Tokyo was having trouble maintaining the hot water system in an office building more than 30 years old. The existing hot water storage tanks required annual inspections at cost of approx. 10,000 Euros each time and a two-day shutdown period for the building and its tenants, including restaurants in the basement level.
The decision to switch to a steam-fired water heater eliminated the need for legal inspections. In addition to cutting operating costs, the two-day shutdown was no longer necessary, and the building management company could avoid inconveniencing tenants and their customers.
To achieve this, the building management company switched the four hot water tanks with three SteamAqua® units, which also freed up floor space previously taken up by the tanks, and actually reduced the overall steam consumption of the building.
